Plagiarism – Stopping it before it Begins
In the e-environment, copying is easier than ever and the Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V keystrokes are readily available. This seminar examines ways in which librarians can help pupils and students understand the implications of what they are doing and reasons why copying and pasting does not help them learn.
At the end of the session attendees will:
· Be able to develop strategies for explaining plagiarism to students
· Have reviewed examples of ways in which schools and colleges are tackling plagiarism
· Understand what students can and cannot do
· Understand how to support international students

Transliteracy, according to wikipedia, is the ability to read, write and interact across a range of platforms, tools and media from signing and orality through handwriting, print, TV, radio and film, to digital social networks – but what does this mean for librarians who want to teach information literacy?
