GIS DEVELOPER

£40,000 to £60,000 + Up to 30% of annual salary bonus & share options

Our prestigious client has a requirement for an experienced GIS Developer to join their team based in London.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Document, designs, codes, and tests GIS Internet Mapping solutions and GIS applications; designs and carries out GIS procedures, both simple and complex; and performs programming for data creation, analysis, conversion and transfer, graphic production, and project reporting
  • Perform complex, integrated programming, data analysis, and application development including maintenance and future enhancements of existing systems
  • Design and develop user friendly Internet Mapping (ArcGIS Server including the REST API), Desktop GIS applications, Mobile GIS (Trimble GPS equipment with Trimble/ESRI software) tools tailored to the clients specific needs
  • Guide GIS users and clients in formulating requirements; advise on alternatives and on implications of new or revised GIS software and applications.
  • Manage the corporate database (ArcSDE and Oracle)
  • Perform necessary maintenance and configuration functions on GIS database and web servers
  • Assist in preparing training materials and providing training on both new and existing applications to end users.
  • Manage the customisation of GIS desktop software, relational databases and internet GIS applications so that they are appropriate for the user groups concerned.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Thoroughly conversant with abroad range of GIS technologies and their practical application
  • Proficient in the management of software adaptation and development.  In particular, in the development of ESRI's GIS software.
  • Advanced programming, data analysis, and software development skills
  • Advanced working experience of ESRI ArcGIS Server (including FLEX, Silverlight & .Net), ArcGIS Desktop and ArcSDE
  • In-depth knowledge and working experience of VB.NET, VBA, ArcObjects, SQL, Visual Basic, PYTHON, XML, HTML, ASP.Net and JavaScript
  • Skilled in the use and programming of relational databases, such as Oracle and ArcSDE
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to customise and apply desktop and web-based technologies to multi-disciplinary projects within specified time constraints
