Commissioning for Changing Times

'Commissioning for Changing Times' is a series of free training offers
run by Campaign for Learning for cultural sector and children's
workforce professionals. This training will give organisations working
across these sectors a practical insight into what commissioning is, why
it's important, and how it can be an essential 'tool' to help your
organisation be sustainable through a tough economic climate.

this year, there is the opportunity to participate in a well
established, introductory workshop. This whole-day workshop run by
People Create for museum, archive and other cultural sector staff will
help you broaden your approach to leading a team, an organisation,
projects and even stakeholders - regardless of whether you have a formal
leadership responsibility. This event takes place in Birmingham on
Tuesday 7 December 2010. The deadline for bookings is Friday 19
November.

The MLA Strategic Commissioning Continuing Professional Development
(CPD) programme provides opportunities to gain further skills, knowledge
and experience to enable the cultural sector to deliver quality
programmes for children and young people.

A range of CPD training and networking activities are on offer to museum
and archive educators, as well as other cultural sector and children and
young people's sector professionals, to strengthen the role of museums,
galleries and archives in the delivery of the Children's Agenda
<http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/everychildmatters/> . Participation in these
activities has been subsidised through the Strategic Commissioning
Programme, and many are offered free or at a greatly reduced cost.

The CPD programme has been framed around the Common Core Framework of
Skills

consultation with the Children's Workforce & Development Council

of key skills for sector staff working with children and young people.
