The first meeting of the London Digital Humanities Group for 2010/11 will take place at Dr Williams's Library, 14 Gordon Square, London, WC1H 0AR on Tuesday 12 October at 5pm. The speakers, all from The National Archives, will be Amanda Spencer (Head of Web Continuity), David Thomas (Director of Technology) and Amy Warner (Head of Systems Development).

Rediscovering the Record

Amanda, David and Amy will be speaking about how new technologies are revolutionising access to government information. They will describe how The National Archives are using techniques of geo-referencing, map-based searching and improved taxonomies to provide much better access to government records. They will also talk about some new and hugely significant resources for people researching contemporary issues: the UK Government Web Archive and data.gov.uk.

Please note the change of venue from previous meetings. Dr Williams's Library is located in Gordon Square a short walk from UCL and the British Library.
