Balancing Access and Security

 

LUCAS/ARA Northwest annual training event, Liverpool, 20th October,

Tim Harris, Head of Access and Buildings, London Metropolitan Archives (and convenor of the Security & Access Group)

 

Lee Oliver, Head of Public Services Development, The National Archives

 

Presentations will cover the following topics:

 

·         challenges facing archives regarding physical security.

·         background to recent cases

·         the formation and role of the Security & Access Group

·         how to respond to thefts,

·         measures for reducing the risks.

 

There will also be some group exercises which will explore the issues covered.

 

When: Wednesday 20th October, 2.30 pm – 5pm

Where: Taylor Room, Sydney Jones Library, The University of Liverpool

 

Cost: £15.00

The training will be followed at 5.15pm by a free welcome event for the new intake of students onto the Master in Archives and Records Management course at Liverpool University. This will be in the Arthur West Room, School of History and include drinks and a light buffet. You are welcome to come whether or not you have attended the training.
