The School currently has a fixed term full time appointment available for an Associate Lecturer in Biostatistics and Epidemiology to commence in January 2011.
 
You will tutor in both biostatistics and epidemiology and help coordinate teaching in these areas for postgraduate students in a range of programs including the Master of Public Health, Master of International Public Health and Master of Clinical Epidemiology. Taking responsibility for associated administration duties,  you will also be involved in the development and grading of assessment material and evaluation of course work. This is a junior academic position and represents an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and motivated individual to gain valuable experience working in an academic environment within one of Australia's leading universities. 
 
A Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Clinical Epidemiology or equivalent, or completion of equivalent core coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics, is required. To succeed you will need a sound understanding of epidemiology and biostatistics demonstrated by completion of at least some advanced elective units in epidemiology and biostatistics in an MPH or equivalent program. It is essential that you have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines and enjoy working as part of a team as well as independently. Teaching and administrative experience is advantageous.
 
The position is full-time fixed term for 12 months, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. There is the possibility of further offers of employment for 12 months, subject to funding and need. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: a competitive remuneration package at Academic Level A will be negotiated with the successful candidate dependent on qualifications, skills and experience (consisting of a base salary of between $57 – 78k, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
