Equality Act Employment Workshops by Winckworth Sherwood - Autumn 2010

Dear Sanchia,

Winckworth Sherwood's Employment Department is pleased to announce the latest in its series of interactive workshops on:

The Equality Act 2010

The new Act, which came into force on 1 October 2010, replaces all previous discrimination legislation and means that all discrimination claims in the future will be brought under the new Act. It is possibly the biggest development in discrimination law for 35 years.

Our workshops are aimed at Human Resources professionals and others whose day-to-day roles requires familiarity with discrimination law in the workplace. The workshops will guide you through the main provisions of the new Act and point out some of the pitfalls.

David von Hagen and Sue Kelly, both partners in our employment law department, will guide you through the new Act, covering the following areas:

  • The new "protected characteristics"
  • Association and perception discrimination
  • Discrimination arising from disability
  • Equal pay
  • When discrimination is lawful

There will be a case study giving you the opportunity to delve into tricky employment issues, share your experiences with fellow delegates and ask questions of our employment experts in a small and friendly forum.

There is no charge for attendance at any of our workshops but spaces are limited so you are advised to book as soon as possible.
