Leo,

Two questions:

When you say “spirits/souls,” what do you mean?  Demons?  Elementals?  Spirits of the dead?

When you say “capturing,” would it be correct to assume that this is something more permanent than simply bringing a spirit into a circle or crystal for the purposes of communication, after which it is dismissed?  (Technically you could omit the dismissal and just keep the spirit around forever, though few magicians would actually do that.)

Thanks,

Subject: [ACADEMIC-STUDY-MAGIC] Capturing Spirits/Souls

I've been raking through the grimoires looking for something on capturing spirits/souls, especially then imprisoning them in objects. So far I've not turned up anything interesting. Does anyone have any refs/pointers to specifically European magical techniques? Also, I know there are some practising magicians on this list: has anyone actually tried this?

All the best,

Leo
