Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller Bursary for Doctoral Study at the IGRS, London
Applications are invited from suitably-qualified candidates who wish to focus their research on German-speaking exile in the UK. A working knowledge of German is required. The successful candidate, who will register at the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies for the MPhil/PhD degree of the University of London, will be able to draw on the expertise of the Institute’s Research Centre for German and Austrian Exile Studies. The award, which is available for three years’ full-time or six years’ part-time study, is funded by the Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller Trust. The award covers tuition fees and maintenance (the latter at £15,000 per year full-time, or £7,500 per year part-time). The successful candidate would normally be expected to take up the award on 1 January or 1 October 2011.
Applicants should send a cv, an outline of their research proposal and arrange for two academic references to be sent direct to Jane Lewin ([log in to unmask]). The closing date for receipt of applications is 31 October 2010 (5 pm). Shortlisted candidates are expected to be interviewed late in November.
