Dear all,

Many thanks to those who provided me with information about Information Governance Teams.

The information provided has shown me that more and more teams in the public sector are creating combined information governance teams.  Staffing numbers vary but the average number in a team is about 3 employees.  This is all dependant on whether the organisation is in central or local government and the commitment made to information governance by senior management.  However, in some organisations there is still a split between IT and other information governance roles and no consolidation between corporate and departmental information governance teams.

One public sector body is managed by a Chief Information Officer and which comprises both IT and information governance, another organisation has set up an information management group with the current aim of developing policies and procedures for information security and a third has information governance reps in each department.

Other specific specialist areas which are covered by information governance teams include Knowledge Management, RIPA, information sharing and corporate complaints.

Kind regards,

Alex
