Hello all

I recommend Dropbox as a useful free service for sharing files with
people by using a link.

It involves signing up, installing Dropbox <http://www.dropbox.com/> ,
placing your file in the public folder you're given access and copying
its URL to share - eg here's the transcript of some of the tweets from
the Science Communication Conference
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4000104/scc2010fullxscript.htm

You can invite a friend to a privately shared Dropbox folder area (not
public, just between the two of you) and although the files are
physically stored on your computer they are synchronised with the copy
on Dropbox whenever you're connected to the internet. This means that my
copy of my Dropbox folder at work is identical to the one at home and
with no effort from me. Files can be restored if accidentally deleted.

Up to 2GB is free I think, more than that and money needs to exchange
hands.

I've been using it ever since I started at UCL in January and my
colleagues introduced me to it. Using the 'favorites' function on the
iPhone app it even lets me read documents / PDFs etc on my phone without
an internet connection (it's the only way I've found to actually save
documents on to my phone* to be honest).

Thanks Michael

That does help. Apologies for the lack of detail. PSCI-COM doesn't
like attachments and I had (wrongly) assumed the text linked to the
website.
