Like Tricia, I use the af field to get alerts for articles published by our staff. I did enquire about its disappearance at the time Search 2.0 came out and received a response along the lines that it had been noted as a possible improvement.

Just to say that the Institution address (author affiliation) is there, but hidden. I have set up an alert as follows:

(Queen adj Victoia.af) and (East adj Grinstead.af) and get regular emails alerting me to articles published by our staff. You can carry out a search but it has to be on af.

I queried this when testing Search 2.0 (June 2008) but have no record of having received a response. Also, even when I retrieve results, I can’t actually see the field in the records.

Subject: Author address field in HDAS

Dear Colleagues,

I wonder whether any who search on NHS Evidence HDAS regret the absence of Author or Institution address as a searchable field.  Having recently saved a set of references as a .txt file, I discovered that the author address field is still there in some of the databases’ native interface.  So I presume that the HDAS overlay has masked it.

If anyone else is concerned about this facility, I would be glad to hear from you.
