Hi Lyn

Yes we have print + e and the price increase would be 70% if we kept the
same format.

Going e-only with the new scheme will also be more costly.

Elsevier are trying to spin this as a beneficial move saying it is a
more flexible licence, but it seems more of an arbitrary way of
increasing prices and cutttings their costs.

I have heard from others who have found the same increase in costs and
are going back to print only for some titles, I am considering doing the
same as some journals such as the Lancet titles will increase greatly.

We are constantly hearing from publishers about how they are aware of
tight budgets and taking account of the recession in their pricing, but
there is little evidence in practice.

Hi Michael
we are also affected by this and according to my calculations it will
cost more than double (115%) to keep our print with e top-ups. I am
outraged but don't know what to do about it. Do you have e top-ups or
e-only? Plus VAT will be going up.........

Hi

We recently received a notice from Elsevier to say that our licence with
Science Direct would expire at the end of the year because:

"the tariff methodology for Elsevier Health Sciences titles to NHS
institutions has changed" and that we are to be shunted over to another
Elsevier product called Journals Consult.

I am curious to know whether any other NHS libraries have had this sort
of notice and whether the change will significantly affected the prices
of journals they get from Elsevier.
