Hi Lyn Yes we have print + e and the price increase would be 70% if we kept the same format. Going e-only with the new scheme will also be more costly. Elsevier are trying to spin this as a beneficial move saying it is a more flexible licence, but it seems more of an arbitrary way of increasing prices and cutttings their costs. I have heard from others who have found the same increase in costs and are going back to print only for some titles, I am considering doing the same as some journals such as the Lancet titles will increase greatly. We are constantly hearing from publishers about how they are aware of tight budgets and taking account of the recession in their pricing, but there is little evidence in practice. I am outraged but don't know what to do about it. Do you have e top-ups or e-only? Plus VAT will be going up......... I am curious to know whether any other NHS libraries have had this sort of notice and whether the change will significantly affected the prices of journals they get from Elsevier.
