italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Hello everyone,

I wanted to draw the list's attention to an upcoming conference at Cornell University. Titled "Commonalities: Theorizing the Common in Contemporary Italian Thought," the conference is organized as a series of individual interventions by some of the leading figures of contemporary Italian thought, followed by responses from a number of American and European critics. Thus the conference will provide not only a moment to reflect upon the fortunes of Italian philosophy today, but will also offer an occasion to pose more specific questions about genealogies of the common across Italy and Europe.

The conference will take place at Cornell University under the auspices of the journal /diacritics/. Participants will include: Franco Berardi ("Bifo"), Remo Bodei, Cesare Casarino, Ida Dominijanni, Roberto Esposito, Michael Hardt, and Antonio Negri (by video conference). More details about the event as well as a number of papers from the participants can be found at the conference website, http://www.commonconf.com. The conference will also be blogged live and clips from the conference will be periodically uploaded over the two days.

Thank you.//Timothy Campbell
