Subject: 28 September Science CPD and networking event at Liverpool World Museum
Importance: High

Hi Gemmers

I hope that you have had a great summer break and are ready for the school visits to return to our museums and heritage sites this month.

I would like to invite you to attend a Science CPD day at World Museum Liverpool (Details below). Any North West museum staff or volunteers are welcome to attend who would like to enrich their science learning offer. Subject to availability of places, this invitation also extends to colleagues outside the North West who have an interest in developing science learning.

Please could you distribute this attachment to colleagues who are not on the GEM e-mail network?

Many thanks

Our 1st Free CPD day with networking opportunities (including lunch) will be at World Museum Liverpool, 10.00am – 3.30pm on 28 September 2010

·        A key aim of this CPD day is for museum colleagues to work collaboratively in order to enrich the science learning offer across the North West.

·        The day will give a brief overview of World Museum Liverpool’s science learning programmes and how the museum has successfully collaborated with external science education providers.

·        You will also discover about funding opportunities to develop science learning within your collection through the Learning Links Science project.

·         This new science network will enable museum colleagues to share their experiences in order to enrich science learning across the North West. The SMILE network is funded through the MLA Strategic Commissioning programme, as part of the Science in Your World programme.

·         SMILE has its own online network www.groups.google.com/group/smilescience . This site provides a forum for us to share expertise, interests & discuss needs for science learning in North West museums. Tell us what your interests and needs are for working with science in the NW via [log in to unmask] and at our SMILE CPD events.
