Apropos of the upcoming conference on Carmen and her others (February 12, 2011;
University College London): It is because Professor Mi Zhou's list of treatments
of Carmen in the arts is so extensive; it is because, more specifically, Professor Mi
Zhou acknowledges that there are as many as eighty film treatments of Carmen, that
I venture to mention but one in particular as especially worthy of consideration and
comment: namely, Jean-Luc Godard's Prenom: Carmen.
