I suppose the question is, "What do you want the BPS to become?" There are many many people in other Sections and Divisions who have worked for years to make things a little more democratic/inclusive - and the rate of change is of course entirely dictated by context, not heroic individuals. I am reminded of Jeff Masson's response when asked how he would change psychiatry - "If something - like rape - is bad, you don't ask how to make it better, you make it illegal."

Dear Erica,

So true! Was just watching and waiting for it to happen, been there many times, the BPS closed down the International Committee (I was a member) a few years ago - no reason was given, probably politically uncomfortable for them...

With empathy,

Greta

Dear All,
It is so painful to watch angels dancing on a pin.  I note that it
took the move to form a BPS Section
for Community Psychology, for the plan to emerge to set up a
collective, and then you complain about the restraints of the BPS.
Why don't you all wake up, and realise that YOU have been sluggish
and unimaginative and self-indulgent in not acting together, rather
than complaining about being excluded.  It beggars imagination, really.
Erica
