The EM Facility at the Cleveland Center for Membrane and Structural Biology (CCMSB) and the Department of Pharmacology at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is seeking a Software Engineer for the Transcontinental Electron Microscopy Initiative for Membrane Protein Structure (TEMIMPS; http://temimps.nysbc.org).  This individual will be the key researcher for building up the computing infrastructure for the EM facility of the Cleveland Center for Membrane and Structural Biology, CCMSB. The task includes building up and maintaining the computational environment for high-speed digital image processing of electron micrographs using software packages developed by the EM community such as 2DX, EMAN, IPLT, SPIDER. Further, new software will be developed within the TEMIMPS consortium, tested, and introduced. Projects are focused on the elucidation of the structure of membrane proteins. Expertise in Unix, C++ and background in math are required. We provide a great scientific environment within which the engineer can pick collaborative projects of interest.
