Hi Conrad, For our clients who find speech recognition unviable, we explore switch scanning strategies and eye gaze access. Both systems require a fair bit of learning, various on-screen keyboards, and often word prediction and expansion strategies to speed up text input. I suggest you search for keywords such as eye-gaze, on-screen keyboard, and scanning computer access. There are descriptions and links to the equipment and software we deal with in Australia on our web site (address below) cheers, James Dean ([log in to unmask]) Technical Solutions Australia P/L 109 Ferndale Road, Silvan Vic 3795 Australia Ph 61 3 9737 9000 Fax 61 3 9737 9111 www.tecsol.com.au ________________________________ From: A discussion list for Assistive Technology professionals. I don't have any specific expertise in this area and I'm trying to canvas advice for someone with primary progressive MS. He was a NaturallySpeaking user for years but his voice is now so weak that voice recognition is no longer an option. He has reasonable head movement and vision, and is not cognitively impaired. Sadly, his wife and main supporter died last year and he is now very isolated. If there is a way of allowing him to at least open e-mails and browse the web this would be greatly appreciated. He lives in Sheffield and if there are solutions, we would need to be able to contact someone who could do an assessment and make recommendations. Thanks in advance for your help.
