We are very low-budget and low-tech (the second relates directly to the first!) We have an 'Is this your first visit?' leaflet (or rather a simple page of A4) which includes the all important line about NOT LICKING ONE'S FINGERS while turning pages. I can email it to anyone who wants to see it. We also have 'Rules for Readers' on this page: http://www.archifdy-ceredigion.org.uk/visiting.php - mostly the same stuff as in the leaflet. The 'Pencils Only' rule is displayed on searchroom tables as a laminated card. I think the content of such guidelines has probably been discussed on the mailing list before in the not-too-distant past, but we are interested not only in the content of the guidelines, but also style (use of images, colour schemes etc) and methods of display (laminate sheets, 'menu holder' stands on searchroom tables etc).
