I seem to remember that we were offered one of these when I worked at Flintshire Museums Service. The donor used it for milk bottles.

Are they not the right size for wine bottle coolers?

Subject: [SHCG-LIST] Mystery Objects brought to Hertford Museum

If you reply to this message, your message will be sent to all the people on the list, not just the author of this message. --------------- A visitor to Hertford Museum has enquired about the objects in the photos; Helen Gurney, the Curator is stumped - can anyone help? A lady came into the museum with these two ‘things’. She has been to lots of other museums (including the Museum of East Anglian Life) and even the Antiques Roadshow when it was at Hatfield, but no one has been able to give her a definitive answer as to what these are. I have looked in numerous books and on websites but have not found anything. We have guessed that they might be coolers for milk bottles but really this is a guess. Has anyone seen anything like this or do they have anything like this in their collection? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
