How to set up
and run a data service: the challenges of social science data
Date:
11-12 November 2010
Location: UK Data Archive, University of Essex, Colchester
On 11-12
November 2010, the UK Data Archive will be hosting a one and a half day workshop
on setting up and running a social science data service.
The workshop
aims to provide an overview of strategies and practices used at the UK Data
Archive. It is suitable for those who actively work with, or whose immediate
plans involve, storing and sharing social science data (including microdata,
aggregate, qualitative and historical data). As experts in the field, the
Archive staff receive many enquiries and requests for visits from both the UK
and abroad. This workshop is intended to address this audience, and may become
an annual event. This event is unlikely to be suitable for undergraduate or
postgraduate students unless they are working in an archiving-related area.
A certificate
of attendance will be issued on completion of the full course.
The cost is
£100. Some limited sponsorship may be available. The deadline for applications
is 22 October 2010.
