Best wishes, Sarah Wood PsyPAG Chair [log in to unmask] Climate change will undoubtedly have major economic and business implications worldwide which is why Lloyd's, the world's leading specialist insurance market, is seeking research papers on the subject for its Science of Risk competition and offering prizes up to £5,000. The competition is open to PhD students or Post-Doctoral research staff with research that could help Lloyd's better understand core risks, like climate change, and how our economies and societies will respond to them. Other categories in the competition include: * Natural hazards * Technological risks * Biological risks * Behavioural risks Prizes of £2,000 will be awarded for the best research paper in each category as well as an additional £3,000 for the best overall paper. The runner-up in each category wins £500. Entrants need to demonstrate how science can help insurers overcome technical challenges including: understanding the impact of climate change; the use of cutting edge mathematics in catastrophe modelling; and the benefits and risks of nanotechnology. Entries close 15 October 2010.
