HEALTH INNOVATION & EDUCATION CLUSTER (HIEC)
Maternal and infant health and care theme

Senior lecturer/senior lecturer-practitioner and
Assistant Theme Director

Offered as a secondment from either University or NHS posts,
full time for 16 months (or until end Feb 2012) in the first instance.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to lead a programme of innovative multidisciplinary work to promote evidence-based best practice in maternal and infant health and care across Yorkshire and Humber, as part of the newly-funded Health Innovation and Education Cluster (HIEC). The HIEC Y&H is a completely new organisation, funded by the Department of Health and the SHA, and formed to provide a more effective system for putting innovative ideas into practice across the NHS in the Yorkshire & Humber Region. The aim will be to make the transition from breakthrough to real change in healthcare through innovation and education. There will be a focus on forging strong links between local education and healthcare providers, as well as making the most of new developments from elsewhere, and taking into account the needs and views of local patients and the public.
Three themes have been established in the first wave of the work of the Y&H HIEC, of which Maternal and Infant Health and Care is one. This theme is jointly led by Prof MJ Renfrew (Mother and Infant Research Unit, Dept of Health Sciences) and Prof W McGuire (Hull York Medical School).
We are looking for someone with a strong background in leadership in a relevant health profession, with knowledge and expertise in both practice and education and the ability to lead the implementation of evidence-based change.
You will have a relevant professional qualification, and a Degree level qualification, along with specialist knowledge to Masters or equivalent level (e.g. clinical, education, leadership, performance management) acquired through training and experience. You should demonstrate experience of professional leadership and standing in the field of Maternal and Infant Health and Care.
