Hi Jonathan
ALDinHE recently ran a professional development event in Reading
covering a number of key learning development issues. The event used case
studies, discussion and sharing of good practice with the aim of enabling
Learning Developers to build skills and capacity, both personally and as a
network of professionals.
The programme was as follows
1. Giving effective one-to-one Learning Development advice
2. Email Learning Development advice (using technology to expand
your service)
3. Marketing and promoting your Learning Development service
4. Embedding Learning Development in your institution
5. Resources to support changing student populations
6. Researching Learning Development and getting published
We are planning to hold a similar event in Leeds in January.
I wonder if we might also run something similar in Scotland – at cost to
make it as affordable as possible. If we could estimate how many colleagues in
Scotland would be interested in such an event that might help us to being
planning …
It would be helpful to hear what others think about this idea ..
All the best for now
John

Subject: Staff development on a shoestring
Dear
all
My
staff development budget has disappeared. (So has the travel
budget. Something to do with global recession - who knew?)
Apparently,
my imagination has also disappeared.
So,
please, suggestions for meaningful staff development on a shoestring for a
talented, experienced, motivated team of learner developers (both
generalists and also with a SPLD / disabilities specialism).
I
can juggle my finances to make some money available, but not much.
yours
Jonathan
