Subject: Re: New Students with Asperger's

Hi Claire,

While still a student at Cardiff University, I was involved with a similar project. It was very important to have current students (in our case without Asperger's) involved, as it made this transition stage more like the real thing. We did many of the familiarisation activities you mentioned. The most valuable activities in my opinion were meal planning and budgeting, going to the supermarket and cooking.

In terms of adults, they had talks about what to expect, as well as visiting most of the same places the students visited (but at different times where possible, to encourage independence).

I hope that helps.

All the best,

Neil Cottrell
