For an NWO-funded project on 'Power dynamics in the new gas and green raw
materials transitions', the AISSR has a vacancy for a PhD candidate within
the Transnational Configurations, Conflict and
Governanceprogramme<http://www.aissr.uva.nl/transnationalconfigurations>.
The position is embedded in, and should contribute to, ongoing research
within the Dutch Knowledge Network on Transitions, of which Prof. John Grin
is a co-director.

The project will be supervised by Prof. John Grin. It is part of a broader
project, in cooperation with a group at the Copernicus Institute, Utrecht
University, led by Prof. Marko Hekkert.
Tasks

   - Conducting research, writing a dissertation and several articles in
   scholarly journals
   - Participating in frequent meetings with the Utrecht team
   - Participating in the AISSR PhD programme, including taking courses
   - Participating in conferences and seminars
   - The candidate will be expected to teach at least 10% of the time

Functie-eisen

   - Completed MA in Sociology, Political Science or another related Social
   Science
   - Preferably knowledge of at least one of the following areas of
   expertise: innovation studies and transition studies
   - Selection will be based on the quality of the research plan and CV

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The gross monthly salary will be €2,042 in the first year and €2,612 in the
fourth year. Secondary benefits at Dutch universities are attractive and
include 8% holiday pay and an 8.3% Christmas bonus.
Afdeling

The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) is the largest
educational and research institution in the social sciences in the
Netherlands. The Faculty serves 7,500 students in numerous Bachelor's and
Master's programmes in Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology,
Communication Science, Psychology, Social Geography, Planning and
International Development Studies, and Educational Sciences. The academic
staff is employed in education as well as research. There are over 1,100
employees at the Faculty, which resides in a number of buildings in the
centre of Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research
(AISSR<http://www.aissr.uva.nl/aissr/home.cfm>)
studies the functioning of contemporary societies and their
interrelationships from historical, comparative and empirical perspectives.
The AISSR aims to be an organisation that offers training to PhD
researchers, as well as housing top-quality research that conforms to a
clear, scientific mission with high-level research programmes. The AISSR is
also a research institute within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural
Sciences (FMG) and is the administrative unit for researchers of three
departments: The Department of Human Geography, Planning and International
Development Studies, The Department of Sociology and Anthropology and The
Department of Political Science.
