If you have some background of statistics and looking to enter the field of
health and medicine, our Biostatistics 2 course provides an introduction to
some key topics. While Biostatistics 1 is recommended, most of the topics in
Biostatistics 2 can be undertaken on their own by anyone with a grounding in
basic statistical inference. This course covers basic principles of design
of randomized clinical trials, ROC curves, relative risk and odds ratio,
and introductory survival analysis. The course will be presented online from
September 10 to October 8, 2010.

The instructor for this course is Dr A. Indrayan, the author of Medical
Biostatistics (2nd edition, CRC Press) and Chair of the Department of
Biostatistics and Medical Informatics, Delhi University College of Medical
Sciences, Delhi. He frequently provides consultation to the World Health
Organization, the World Bank and UNAIDS for their medical and health
projects.

The course will require about 15 hours per week and there are no set hours
when you must be online. Participants can ask questions with the instructor
and exchange comments via a private discussion board through the period.
