*** Special Session: Intelligent Multiobjective OptimzatioN (IMON) ***
At the LION 5 Conference, Learning and Intelligent OptimizatioN
Jan 17-21, 2011, Rome, Italy

Multiobjective optimization arises in many real-world applications in
areas such as engineering, business, computer science, biological
sciences, scientific computation, etc. Very often, the objectives
conflict with each other. There is no single solution which can optimize
all the objectives simultaneously. In recent years considerable progress
has been achieved in the field of multiobjective optimization including:
development of specialised algorithms, design of assessment metrics,
development of benchmark problems, development of frameworks and
libraries, performance and analysis of algorithms, applications to a
variety of real-world problems, interaction with multicriteria decision
making techniques, tackling uncertainty, noise and many objectives, etc.

Within the context of the LION conference, the purpose of the IMON
session is to provide a forum for contributions in the field of
multiobjective optimization that incorporate some kind of learning
and/or intelligent components. For example, learning the process to
establish preferences among objectives, intelligent niching and
diversity methods, intelligent multiobjective operators, etc. We seek
papers addressing any of (but not limited to) the aspects listed above
and that also incorporate "intelligent" mechanisms to better conduct
multiobjective optimization.

Papers on all topics related to the session themes are solicited.
Prospective authors can submit papers via the online submission system
of LION 2011. Authors are advised to be careful when selecting a paper
category. The paper categories for LION-IMON are (1) LION-IMON: Regular
Paper, (2) LION-IMON: Short paper, and (3) LION-IMON: Work for oral
presentation only. In addition, please send an e-mail message including
title of paper, author's names and affiliation, and abstract to the
session chair: Dr Dario Landa-Silva, [log in to unmask]

All accepted novel and unpublished papers will be published in the
post-conference proceedings of LION 5.

Organizers:
