medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
"[Amalburga's] relics have been in Saint Peter's abbey church in Ghent, Belgium since 1073"

I knew I had pictures of a Saint Peter's Church (including reliquaries) in medrelart, but the church is in Leuven. I then went on a search for the above-mentioned church, which is no longer a church but a cultural center and museum, and on the outskirts of Ghent.
I did, however, find information of use to me on another topic. The huge oak carving in S.P. in Leuven that I identified as The Conversion of Saint Paul is actually The Conversion of Norbert of Xanten, who was frightened into sainthood by a bolt of lightning. Mea culpa...

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Thanks, Karl.

Tomorrow’s my birthday, and although I share it with Proust, I’ve always been disappointed that it is most usually commemorated at St. Oliver Plunkett’s day.  (Now, if it were Nicholas Owen, as my nephew’s birthday is, that would be a very different story.  He’s a very cool saint, as I keep trying to impress upon my nephew.)  Anyway, I was very disappointed that the saints lives would not be posted tomorrow, but a sturgeon-water-skiing abbess very much makes up for that.

Tomorrow, the 10th of July, is among others the memorial day of

Amalburga, cf. http://saints.sqpn.com/sainta47.htm
