medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture Thanks Marjorie for your thoughts. I should have specified the context, which is early C14 England. The idea seems to be not that the corpse would be buried by the wall but placed by a wall with hands and feet tied while funeral preparations were made. Sue 'm sure I should have been able to find this information easily, but have failed to do so. Has anyone encountered a practice in which a corpse is placed next to a wall with hands and feet bound in preparation for burial?
