With apologies for cross-posting

From December, there will be three vacancies on the JIBS User Group
Committee.

The JIBS User Group represents HE, FE and research users of online
bibliographic resources and related products, and started life as as the
BIDS User Group over ten years ago.

Over the years, JIBS has negotiated with suppliers and bodies such as
Eduserv and JISC, to ensure that user needs are addressed. There are JIBS
representatives on many user and information community enhancement groups,
such as the JISC Journals Working Group, the Ebsco Enhancement Group and the
Web of Science Enhancement Committee. JIBS also runs two open workshops
each year. The most recent workshops were on the following topics:
Developments in licensing; Management data in HE libraries; The future of
A+I services.

If you would like to put yourself forward for one of the committee places,
please write to me ([log in to unmask]), saying - in approximately 100 words -
why you wish to be considered, and what your particular contribution could
be. The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 23 August 2010.

Anyone from the UK HE/FE/research community may apply, but we are keen to
recruit at least one member from the FE sector. JIBS Advisors are also
encouraged to apply. Previous applicants will be considered on
re-application.

Applications will be assessed by the JIBS committee in September, and
successful nominees will be notified soon after, and then formally appointed
at the December AGM.

The committee meets four times a year, and committee members should attend
at least three meetings a year. Meetings expenses are met by JIBS. There
is more information about JIBS on our Web site and our blog:
