You would need two cron jobs with two different xml configuration files (one for each database) in any machine with an apel parser installed.

As for the second question, the db doesn’t only contain the accounting records, it also has information on which log files have been processed and the last successful publishing date, so it would be very recommended to move the db back to the MON (in order to avoid reprocessing log files, republishing data and so on…).

Cheers,

Cristina

Hi Santanu,

The problem is that your CE(s) will only be pointing to one of the machines, so you’ll only have records in one of them…

As far as I understand, all it (the CE) does is runs the cron-job, which actually runs the parser-config.xml in return to generate the data - isn't it?
If so, then is it a problem to have two separate files - one with reprocess="no" and another with reprocess="yes" - and running the cron-jobs in two different time?

If the plan is to keep the MON box running but for the CEs to use the glite-APEL box and if this fails move back to the MON box then that’s fine… Just remember that if you move back to using the MON box you should move the contents of the db as well.

Just a question: If the accounting-page is found up-to-date, do we still need to think about the db?

Santanu

Please open a GGUS ticket if you have any problems with the installation or with APEL.

Hi Cristina

HI Santanu,

You can have both nodes specified in GOCDB, that’s not a problem.

However, having both the new glite-APEL and the old MON running at the same time is a bit more tricky. Are you planning to have both publishing records for a while?

Not for a very long time, for sure but just for a little while, until I'm happy from my side. It's actually a virtual machine - that's another thing I'm testing too for the production. So the idea is to keep running the old one as backup if the new one fails.

cheers,
Santanu
