Temporary Part-Time Teaching Associate in German (70% fte) University of Cambridge Department of German & Dutch Vacancy number: GJ06781 Limit of Tenure applies* Applications are invited for the post of Temporary Part-Time Teaching Associate in German, ideally with a particular interest in the eighteenth century. You will be expected to contribute to teaching and administration within the Department, in at least two of the following areas: (i) language teaching (translation from German into English); (ii) German literature from 1700 to 1832 (especially Goethe); (iii) German thought from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. Depending on your areas of expertise, you will be asked to undertake language teaching as necessary, to give lectures in the following undergraduate courses: GE 5: Modern German culture (1), 1750 - 1890 and GE8: German literature, thought, and history from 1700 to 1815 (including Goethe's works to 1832), to act as course adviser for one or both of these papers, to supervise MPhil work in relevant fields, and to assist in Tripos examinations. You may also be expected to teach the full range of texts set for the first-year literature paper (GE3), if you choose to join a College, and to offer specialist language teaching for second and final-year students. You will be required to hold a PhD and to specialize in one of the areas in which you will be lecturing. You will have a strong profile, both in terms of research and publications, and the promise of making an outstanding contribution to the Department of German and Dutch. You will have native or excellent non-native command of German and English.
