Press release
Interpreters
from museums and heritage sites will be heading to Bournemouth this autumn for
the annual conference of the Association for Heritage Interpretation (AHI). The
theme for the conference, from 13 to 15 October, is ‘Effective
Communication: Exploring new strategies for interpretation’.
AHI
has lined up some inspiring speakers, including the Arts & Education team
from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site; Phil Whitfield, Head of
Interpretation at Forestry Commission Scotland, and Emma Carver, Head of
Interpretation at English Heritage, who will be talking about the latest
developments with the Stonehenge visitor centre.
Delegates
will also be testing the best of new interpretation in Dorset, including The
Tank Museum, Bovington, and the National Trust’s Corfe Castle, as well as
finding out about plans for the new visitor centre at Durlston Country Park,
gateway to the Jurassic Coast WHS.
AHI
is a key forum for anyone interested in interpretation – the art of helping
people explore and appreciate our world. It aims to promote excellence in
the practice of interpretation and to gain wider recognition of interpretation
as a professional activity. To find out more about AHI and the
conference, visit www.ahi.org.uk.
