Leading presenters including George Casella and Tony O'Hagan will
deliver material on a range of topics designed to assist statisticians
and users of statistics at various stages of their careers.
Course A: Principles of statistical design
Presented by George Casella (University of Florida)
This course covers the principles and practice of statistical design,
paying attention to the setup and implementation of an experiment, and
the underlying theory that allows valid inferences.
More details here: http://www.rss.org.uk/main.asp?page=3192
Course B: Emulators for Computer Simulation Models
Presented by Tony O'Hagan, Peter Challenor and other members of the MUCM
Project (University of Sheffield)
The course will provide an introduction to the use of emulators to make
inference about the behaviour of complex computer simulation models
based on a limited number of model runs.
More details here: http://www.rss.org.uk/main.asp?page=3193
Workshop: How to make the most of RSS Conference
Organised by the RSS Young Statisticians Section for all statisticians
at any stage in their career.
The day will include presentations on a young statistician's experience
of the RSS conference, how to get the most from the conference poster
session and how to market yourself at conference. Examples of
well-received presentations and prize winning poster presentations will
be given.

Workshop A: Management by Fact
Presented by Roland Caulcutt and Tony Brown

managers can be helped to make better decisions. Attendees will broaden
their understanding of how decisions may or may not be supported by the
data on which they are supposedly based.
More details here: http://www.rss.org.uk/main.asp?page=3194
Workshop B: Evidence-based policy making
