Dear allstat, A workshop on "Validation in Statistics and Machine Learning" will take place in Berlin (Weierstrass Institute) on October 6-7th 2010. The workshop serves as a platform to critically discuss current shortcomings in the evaluation and validation of new statistical and machine learning methods, to present new strategies for assessing statistical approaches while avoiding optimistic bias, and to identify promising future directions of research. The workshop is funded by the Weierstrass Institute and by the Pascal2 Network of Excellence.
