Best wishes Joanna Hart Here at the University of Kent we have a deadline date for approving bursaries, for academic year 2009 / 2010, as 13 August 2010. This is because we need to draw a line for budgeting purposes. Before we approve a bursary on HEBSS we have a checklist of criteria which need to be correct before proceeding. One of these is that the evidence verified box must say 'Yes' for new students. We currently have a number of 1st year students who are still showing on HEBSS as evidence verified 'No'. If these have not updated to 'Yes' by 13 August 2010, these students will lose any bursary entitlement they may have for the academic year 2009 / 2010. We have been doing everything we can to help these students resolve these issues since the beginning of the academic year. We have had a request from one of our student advisers for the deadline to be extended due to the current issues students are still experiencing with Student Finance England i.e. 6-7 week backlogs. We are aware of student welfare issues, and would therefore like to hear from other institutions, whose bursaries are administered through HEBSS, what deadline date they are working towards for the academic year 2009 / 2010? and also if they have considered extending this deadline due to Student Finance England issues?
