To clarify we do the same. However the paediatricians/neonatologists still would like us to assist them and provide age related reference ranges for their use 'off analyser'. So far IL have been unable or reluctant to provide any, to my knowledge. I agree the ranges may well not be straightforward.

After much discussion with our Paediatric Consultants it was decided not to put reference ranges on the IL GEM 4000 analyser, as with neonates gestational age and post partum age and maturity need to be considered. We have included panic ranges to flag grossly abnormal results. Reference ranges also mean you get a printout a mile long.
