Our programme for the remainder of 2010 is as follows: Inspirational Leadership within a Statistical Organisation, 14-15 October This 2 day workshop aims to enhance participants’ understanding of effective leadership behaviours, with particular emphasis on leading through periods of uncertainty, change and when facing dilemmas; increase their understanding of techniques for sustaining high performance teams; and enhance their overall impact and effectiveness through increased self-awareness and the use of productive communication approaches. Introduction to Modelling in R, 3-4 November This workshop introduces participants to the R environment for statistical computing. Day 1 of the course focuses on entering, working with and visualising data in R. Day 2 focuses on regression modelling in R, including linear, general linear, logistic and survival models. Participants can either register for both days, or for either Day 1 or Day 2, depending on their background and interests. Presenting Data, 11 November This one day event provides the foundation to all presentations of statistical information. The basic principles of presenting information in tables, charts, maps and text are explained. These are illustrated and then reinforced through practical exercises. The day will be a mix of presentation, tuition and exercises which all reinforce the communication message. Multilevel Modelling, 24-25 November This two-day course is designed to give participants a solid grounding in the theory and application of multilevel models. The course will be based around theoretical sessions followed by “hands-on” sessions illustrating the theoretical concepts. The practical sessions will use the MLwiN software package. Meta-analysis, 9-10 December This course will be invaluable for all those involved in meta-analysis of pharmaceuticals, whether as a consumer or producer, or working for sponsor, regulator, contract research organisation or in academia.
