In all other respects I am very long in the tooth. The knowledge and information gained has been extremely useful to my practice and I follow each post with great interest. Many thanks and long may the list continue. To the subject in hand:I have had a case very similar in that the employee concerned had a total hysterectomy 15 years previously. However she was no longer having HRT. All bloods were normal including thyroid function. These were taken by her GP for a slightly raised BP (probably due to Ibuprofen and stress - having both at the time) and obesity. She suffered from episodes of extreme cold, shivering, numb finger tips and a temp of 35 C. The episodes would last for several hours and would only subside with hot water bottles, warmed wheat bags, blankets and the room heating increased to over 22 C. She did not visit her GP because the episodes only happened every few months. They did not happen at work - or she was possibly too busy to notice? She was however suffering from an undiagnosed depression. Now diagnosed and treated. No further episodes since but this may be coincidental and / or better weather!A nice warm fleece and gloves brought in from home and kept at work sound just the ticket.................... Plus a visit to the GP.Gill Smith SCPHN (OH)Independent PractitionerSouth Wales----- Original Message -----From: [log in to unmask] href="mailto:[log in to unmask]">Jean Greening-Jackson (Occupational Health)To: [log in to unmask] href="mailto:[log in to unmask]">[log in to unmask]Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2010 3:51 PMSubject: [OCC-HEALTH] HRT Therapy and temperature controlI have had an interesting situation today, where an employee who had a hysterectomy two years ago, states she is suffering periods of extremely low temperatures, shivering and unable to warm up which her Gp attributes to her HRT therapy. She is consequently asking for extra heating etc in the workplace etc.I can't seem to find anything to substantiate this, although I am awaiting a GP report.Anyone come across this?Jean Greening-Jackson.BSc ( Hons) RGN HV.Registered Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health.Department of Employee HealthSixth FloorCity Exchange61 Hall IngsBradfordBD1 5SG01274 43488207771884084The information in this e-mail is intended for the recipient or entry to whom it is addressed.
