Hi Maureen,
Our situation may not be exactly the same as yours, but we have made this work here. We have set the Request wwwoption to Denyiflocalavail, then made sure that the Locations Served table only includes the locations which are at the appropriate site. Holds on our webcat are placed at bib level.

The end result is that if a copy is on loan here, but not on loan at our other (HRI) site, the hold is allowed here. If, on the other hand, the HRI copy is on loan, but ours isn't, the hold is blocked here. I'm assuming that the same is true out at HRI (logically it should be), but they are a fairly low-use library with few holds...

Best wishes,

Richard

Subject: Holds enhancements - please read/answer before conference

A while ago I sent out an email about holds – and the limitations of Innovative. Briefly we want users to be able to place a hold when an item is available on another site but not when available on pick up site. This is just not possible with bib level holds – we even offered to pay Innovative to do it as a consultancy

I did receive replies from other libraries who felt that hold options were too restrictive. Graham Woodruff said if I could forward names of other sites with similar Issues he would speak to Betsy at  EIUG. I am really sorry about the short notice on this. The conference has crept up on me!
