Session C

Marketing the Information Profession: Escaping the Echo-Chamber –

Ned Potter, LIFE-SHARE Project, Leeds University Library and Laura Woods, Information Assistant, Davies Arnold Cooper LLP

The information profession is full of forward thinking professionals sharing great ideas. But often it feels as though we only ever talk to each other, and preach to the converted – rather than targeting our marketing resources at those who are unaware of or indifferent to our services. This session will look in detail at the echo-chamber phenomenon; examples of our failure to escape it, and potential marketing strategies for the future

Session D

Active Learning Techniques for Information Literacy

Andrew Walsh, Academic Librarian, Huddersfield University

This session will look at how different learning techniques can be used to develop information literacy and raise awareness of different learning styles and methods of developing the content of sessions to ensure sessions achieve their outcomes

15.30 – 16.00            Closing Remarks and Evaluation

All sessions will be presentation-based, with an opportunity for delegates to share experiences and ask questions. Due to their interactive nature, session capacity is limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
