italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Dear All,

A reminder of two interrelated events taking place later this month at the British School of Rome (BSR).

1. The conference Language, space and otherness in Italy since 1861 will take place on 24-25 June 2010. The conference is free of charge and no pre-registration is required. All are welcome.

Conference panels include Geopolitics, Migrants, Roma and Sinti, Fascism and colonies, Interracial encounters, Judaism/Jews, Women as others, Sexualities, Disabilities, Psychiatry/Madness. Speakers include Alessandro Portelli, Lucia Re, John Agnew, Nicola Labanca, Mia Fuller, Carl Levy, Derek Duncan, John Foot, Robert Gordon and many others.

2. The exhibition Italy's Margins will open to the public at 6.30pm with a reception on Friday 25 June and will run until 9 July. Admission is free.
