Immediate opening is available for a Research Economist in health economics and/or health policy research to conduct public health research and evaluation projects. The research area is evaluating the influence of public health policies, programs and interventions aimed at reducing tobacco and illicit substance use and promoting healthy behaviors. The program has a mix of NIH grants and contracts with state and federal agencies. Research is in collaboration with state health departments, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the FDA, and private foundations to address public health issues. Experience with simulation models, and participation on successful projects that have led to publication are also highly desirable.

PhD in Economics, Health Policy, or other related field with experience in health economics is required.

Responsibilities include:
- Leadership for ongoing and new research projects.
- Conduct and/or direct complex statistical/econometric analyses
- Prepare project reports, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and present at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to grant and contract proposals to government agencies and other funding sources.
