2    AoC lobbying secures alterations to JCQ Exam Timetable and results dates 2011

Who is this information useful for? Principals, Vice Principals, Senior Curriculum Managers, Examinations Offices 

Hot Issue: As reported in previous 14-19 Briefings, JCQ published the provisional exams timetable for 2011 which showed that the start of the exam series had moved forward to 10 May and that results dates had also been brought forward to 11 August for GCE A levels and 18 August for GCSEs. Also that the proposed move to electronic results, along with the withdrawal of paper copy results slips which would have implications for Colleges' recruitment and enrolment practices.

As a result of lobbying, Ofqual organised a meeting at which it was agreed that the exam series should be put back to 16 May, running until 29 June, and the results have also been put back by one week to 18 August for GCE A levels and 25 August for GCSE. In addition, it was accepted that the removal of paper copy results slips will have implications for Colleges' recruitment and enrolment practices, and it was agreed that, whilst results will be issued electronically (from November 2010), Ofqual, DfE and JCQ will develop a uniform system for giving students a hard copy of their results.
