Dear Mark,
Thanks for offering to set up "a virtual alternative / extension to the conference". I would like to hear the views of Annie and conference colleagues on how to extend discussion relating to the conference they are organising before rushing to a decision but also I would just like to remind list members that Grant Jeffrey worked hard to set up e-resources for UK CP list members to use, that we still have the domain communitypsychology.co.uk and that Grant recently renewed it at his own expense so that it would be available for list members.  (Thanks Grant). There has been little expression of interest in using the e-resources provided by Grant so far but they are collective resources of the UK CP community and  I personally would like to see them utilised
David .

Would a virtual alternative / extension to the conference be helpful.
It's easy enough to set up - via say NING (although those networks will cease to be free next month, tho the fee is small) or huddle, or googlegroups.
If there are sufficient interested people I'd be happy to set one up.
This in itself is consistent with the values of cp and the conference themes - increasing particupation and reducing unnecessary travel.

Hi Annie, I wanted to respond to your concerns as to why there were not so many people attending the conference from the list itself. For me, it has been a balance of meeting my personal interests with clinical training commitments. I suppose this too would include how I would be able to 'sell' this to those who sanction my leave and dont have an interest in climate change or community psychology. Which unfortunately in my limited experience so far seems to be the majority. Additionally, I do wonder how many members of the list are still 'active' and in touch with the list, as there seems to be only a small number who are involved in discussions. This is however the start of a different discussion. I think for those of us interested, the theme and distance is and would be (looking forward too) no problem as it would give us an opportunity to link with like minded people. Also I cant really say no to Devon cream tea! I wonder if the recent
excellent news of the BPS Section of Community Psychology being approved will help any future prospective attendees to attend future conferences. Thanks to all for the hard work thats gone into organising the conference (and the BPS Section), as a newcomer it really is appreciated and valued and look forward to future developments with great hopes. Keep well, Abdullah ___________________________________ The Community Psychology List has a new website/blog at: http://www.communitypsychology.co.uk/ There is a threaded discussion forum: http://www.communitypsychology.co.uk/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi There is a twitter feed: http://twitter.com/CommPsychUK To post on the website blog, forum or twitter feed, contact Grant or David at the email addresses below.
