The Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology of Saarland University is looking for a research scientist in a cooperation project with the Structural Biology Section of the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig. The project is about the structure determination of complex multimodular natural compound assembly lines from Myxobacteria. The successful candidate is knowledgeable in state-of-the-art techniques in recombinant DNA technology (PCR, cloning, protein expression systems, site-directed mutagenesis), protein biochemistry (protein purification, protein analytics, crystallization of proteins), enzyme assays, X-ray structural analysis (data collection, structure solution, model building and refinement)a and structure-function studies on proteins.

 

Employment prerequisites (mandatory):

Completed studies in biochemistry, biology or chemistry. Profound experience in protein biochemisty and recombinant DNA technology mandatory.

 

Applicants with the following qualifications are favored:

Documentation of outstanding scientific performance (successful PhD studies); Experience in protein crystallography/structural biology would be an advantage.

 

Employment is determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für der Länder –TV-L) (i.d.F.des  § 40 TV-L) 

 

 Full-time positions are, in principle divisible (§ 7 Abs. 1 TzBfG).
