Clothes moths are a particular pest in London at the moment and to tackle them effectively we need to understand their lifestyle, the damage they cause and most importantly early detection methods and options for control. This course has been designed with the needs of those with little or no knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) in mind, but who nevertheless have cultural collections in their care. It will cover the four main principles of IPM: * Insect identification and understanding the damage they cause * The factors such as climate and cleanliness which influence insect pest development * Surveying and monitoring for pests * Traditional and new control methods – including new techniques for moth control which are being trialed in museums.
