Clothes moths are a particular pest in London at the moment and to tackle
them effectively we need to understand their lifestyle, the damage they
cause and most importantly early detection methods and options for control.
You may well be dealing with the issue of pests getting at your collection
and need to know more.  If so, read on…

 

More about what’s that beastie?...

This course has been designed with the needs of those with little or no
knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) in mind, but who nevertheless
have cultural collections in their care.  It will cover the four main
principles of IPM:

*	Insect identification and understanding the damage they cause
*	The factors such as climate and cleanliness which influence insect
pest development
*	Surveying and monitoring for pests
*	Traditional and new control methods – including new techniques for
moth control which are being trialed in museums.

Trainers: Robert Child has had an extensive career in museum conservation
including his role as Head of Conservation at the National Museum of Wales.
His specialist is in preventive conservation with a particular interest in
insect pest control.  As such is Advisor on Insect Pests to the National
Trust and a consultant and lecturer internationally.
