Dear
Colleagues,
A
major two day conference event is taking place on the 6th and 7th of July this
year at the Fielder centre in Hatfield which is part of the University of
Hertfordshire.
The
programme has been shaped to be especially relevant for record and information
management professionals working within local government and we hope that you
will be able to come or if not send a representative.
The
theme for this event is The Future of Electronic Information and Records
Management in the Public Sector. Archivists and record managers involved in
developing information and records management policies and procedures and
researching, procuring and implementing EDRM and ECM solutions in public
authorities should consider attending.
The
first day Tuesday 6 July is devoted to 2 full day workshops. The first workshop
provides an in-depth review of the Lord Chancellor’s Code of Practice on
the Management of Records which sets the standard for the public sector. The
Code was revised and reissued in July 2009. The National Archives will be
showcasing the new implementation guides and compliance assessment tools which
have been developed to support implementation of the revised Code The
second workshop is devoted to Microsoft SharePoint, which is being widely
implemented in the public sector, and looks at its potential for document and
records management now and in the future.
Wednesday
7 July is devoted to the formal conference and will focus on new and
forthcoming best practice guidelines and standards; new approaches to making
the business case for information and records management and the latest trends
in the marketplace. As we have both common and specific interests in the public
sector we have developed a programme to provide a mixture of plenary
keynote sessions accompanied by breakout sessions focusing on specific topics
so you can tailor your learning experience to exactly meet your interests.
Discussion sessions ensure you can put your point of view and get fully
involved in the debate. There will also be a free exhibition running alongside
the conference.
Delegates
are offered three attendance options:
1.
attendance
at one of the workshops on 6th July,
2.
the
conference itself on the 7th of July
3.
attendance
at both workshops and the conference on 6th and 7th July.
